The history of “Casa Pepe” began in in the street known as Montero Ríos in Vigo, in 1946. Founded by José María Pérez Rodríguez who, with his small grocery shop, soon realised that merchant ships needed large amounts of food and drink provisions during their long trips between ports. José María’s secret was, at all times, to supply top quality products with an efficient service. These have been the company’s principles over the years, where today Chano Carrera and his son are the third generation managing Casa Pepe’s future.

The town of Vigo changed a good deal in the second half of the 20th century and with it the municipal planning, converting the street where Casa Pepe was first established a pedestrian promenade. Since 1996, the company has, from the first day, been operating from the old warehouses of Vigo`s Transatlantic Quay with the same efficiency and quality, as accredited by international ISO 9001 and ISO 14001certificates, being a member of the International Association of Ship and Service Providers (ISSA) and an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO).

Any reference to Casa Pepe involves delving into part of Vigo’s History, pioneers of the Merchant Marine industry with a long experience in the ship chandler sector. More than 60 years as a Vigo family business are proof of this. Very few companies in the town of Vigo can proudly say that they continue the legacy of their founder and continue to be a reference company.

The company today supplies merchant and fishing vessels, as well as hospitals and schools in the province of Pontevedra.
